The target is not “make every pixel black.” A useful dark theme has to preserve hierarchy, contrast, media, controls, and the visual cues people use to trust a page. That calls for dynamic color adaptation and site-specific rules rather than one flat page inversion.
When a website already has a good dark appearance, the default should be to respect it. When a site needs a different treatment, users can choose a theme or mode for that site. This is a maintenance problem as much as a design problem. The publication is maintained alongside the Noxri Safari extension so technical claims can be checked against working Swift and JavaScript code.
